Terms of Service

By using GameDayBot (“the Bot,” “the Service”), operated by Confused Narwhal LLC (“we,” “us”), you (“User,” “you”) agree to be bound by the following Terms of Service (“Terms”). If you do not agree with these Terms, you must not use the Bot.

1. Eligibility

The Bot is intended for users who are 13 years of age or older, or the minimum age required by your chat platform and fantasy platform, whichever is higher. By using the Bot, you confirm that you meet this requirement.

2. Account Registration and Security

To use the Bot, you may need to create an account on our website and connect one or more chat platforms and fantasy platforms. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account information and any credentials you provide, and for all activities under your account.

3. Independent Service; No Affiliation with Third Parties

GameDayBot is an independent service that retrieves your fantasy league information and delivers automated updates to your chat group. GameDayBot is not affiliated with, endorsed by, sponsored by, or in any way officially connected with ESPN, Yahoo, Sleeper, Discord, Slack, GroupMe, Telegram, WhatsApp, or any of their parent companies, subsidiaries, or affiliates. All product names, logos, and brands are the property of their respective owners and are used solely to identify the platforms with which the Bot is compatible.

4. Fantasy Platform Access and Your Authorization

The Bot accesses fantasy league data only at your direction and on your behalf. By connecting a league, you represent and warrant that you are a member of that league or are otherwise authorized to access and share its information, and that your use of the Bot complies with the terms of service of the applicable fantasy platform.

  • ESPN. You provide session credentials from your own ESPN account (espn_s2 and SWID) so the Bot can retrieve your league’s information if you have a private league. You are responsible for your ESPN account and for keeping these credentials current. You may revoke the Bot’s access at any time by removing the credentials from your GameDayBot account or contacting us to have them deleted.
  • Yahoo. The Yahoo integration is not currently available to new users while Yahoo reviews our Fantasy Sports API access. When it is available, the Bot accesses Yahoo Fantasy data only through Yahoo’s authorization process (OAuth), which you complete with your own Yahoo account. Your use of Yahoo Fantasy remains subject to Yahoo’s own terms of service. The Bot’s Yahoo integration is not available to residents of, or in connection with leagues or applications directed to users in, India, Japan, or Taiwan.
  • Sleeper. The Bot retrieves Sleeper league information through Sleeper’s public, read-only API using the league identifier you provide. By connecting a Sleeper league, you represent that you are authorized to share that league’s information with the members of your chat group.

We may suspend or discontinue access to any fantasy platform integration for any User or league that we reasonably believe is violating these Terms or a third-party platform’s terms.

5. Third-Party Data; No Guarantee of Availability or Accuracy

League data, scores, statistics, and projections originate from third-party platforms and are provided “as is.” Information may be delayed, incomplete, or inaccurate, and we do not verify it. The Bot’s output is provided for entertainment and convenience only; you should not rely on it for any wagering, financial, or other consequential decision, and we are not responsible for the outcome of any fantasy league, side bet, or wager.

Third-party platforms may modify, restrict, or discontinue their services, data, or interfaces at any time without notice. Accordingly, we may modify, suspend, or discontinue support for any fantasy platform or chat platform at any time. If support for a platform you use is discontinued, your remedy is to cancel your subscription; any refund or credit is governed by our Refund Policy.

6. Chat Platforms and Message Delivery

  • Authority to install. You represent that you have the authority (for example, as a server, workspace, or group owner or administrator, or with the owner’s permission) to add the Bot or its webhooks to any chat server, workspace, group, or channel you connect.
  • Recipient consent. Messages are sent at your direction. You are responsible for ensuring that members of your group consent to receiving automated messages from the Bot, including where a platform may deliver messages by SMS or other channels.
  • Platform rules. Your use of the Bot within Discord, Slack, GroupMe, Telegram, WhatsApp, or any other chat platform must comply with that platform’s terms of service, developer policies, and community guidelines. Availability of the Bot on any given chat platform depends on that platform’s policies regarding third-party automation, and certain features may be limited or unavailable on certain platforms.
  • Delivery. We do not guarantee that any message will be delivered or delivered on time. Delivery may be affected by platform outages, rate limits, policy changes, or removal of the Bot from a group.
  • Removal. We may disconnect the Bot from any group or channel that we reasonably believe is being used in violation of these Terms or a chat platform’s rules.

7. Subscriptions, Billing, and Refunds

Paid features are provided on a subscription basis, purchased either through our website or through Discord’s in-app subscription system. Subscriptions renew automatically until cancelled. Website subscriptions renew until you cancel them from your account page, effective at the end of the current billing period; refunds for those are governed by our Refund Policy. Subscriptions purchased through Discord are billed and managed by Discord: cancel them from your Discord subscription settings, where Discord’s own refund policy applies rather than ours. We may change subscription pricing with notice, effective at your next renewal.

8. Prohibited Conduct

You agree not to:

  • Engage in harassment, abuse, or discriminatory behavior through the Bot.
  • Use the Bot for spam, unsolicited advertisement, or malicious purposes.
  • Connect, or attempt to access, any league, account, or data that you are not authorized to access.
  • Interfere with the Bot’s functionality, misuse the Bot’s features, or take any action that causes the Bot to violate a third-party platform’s rate limits or access rules.
  • Resell or commercially redistribute the hosted Service without our permission.
  • Violate any laws or third-party rights while using the Bot.

9. Data Collection and Privacy

The Bot collects information needed to provide the Service, which may include your chat platform username and identifiers, league identifiers, and the platform credentials or authorization tokens you provide (such as ESPN session credentials or Yahoo OAuth tokens). Credentials are used only to retrieve your league information and are deleted upon request or account closure. Refer to our Privacy Policy for details on data handling.

10. Bot Availability

The Bot may be temporarily unavailable due to maintenance or other technical issues. While we strive to minimize downtime, there is no guarantee of continuous access.

11. Intellectual Property

Portions of the Bot are built on open-source software, which remains available under its applicable open-source license (including, where applicable, the GNU General Public License v3.0). These Terms do not limit any rights you have under those licenses to the open-source code itself.

The hosted Service, the GameDayBot website, and the GameDayBot name, branding, logo, and proprietary design elements are our property and may not be used without explicit permission. Third-party trademarks referenced by the Service belong to their respective owners.

12. Disclaimer of Warranties

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE,” WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, WHETHER EXPRESS, IMPLIED, OR STATUTORY, INCLUDING WITHOUT LIMITATION WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, ACCURACY, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE SERVICE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, ERROR-FREE, OR THAT ANY THIRD-PARTY PLATFORM WILL REMAIN AVAILABLE TO THE SERVICE.

13. Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, WE WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF DATA, PROFITS, OR GOODWILL, ARISING FROM OR RELATED TO YOUR USE OF OR INABILITY TO USE THE SERVICE, INCLUDING ANY CHANGE TO OR DISCONTINUATION OF A THIRD-PARTY PLATFORM. OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ANY CLAIM ARISING FROM THESE TERMS OR THE SERVICE WILL NOT EXCEED THE AMOUNTS YOU PAID US FOR THE SERVICE IN THE TWELVE (12) MONTHS BEFORE THE EVENT GIVING RISE TO THE CLAIM.

14. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold us harmless from any claims, damages, liabilities, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys’ fees) arising from (a) your breach of these Terms; (b) your violation of any law or the rights of any third party; (c) credentials, authorizations, or league connections you provide to the Service; or (d) content transmitted to your chat group at your direction.

15. Modifications to the Terms

We reserve the right to update or modify these Terms at any time. Continued use of the Bot after modifications constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.

16. Termination

We may suspend or terminate your access to the Bot at any time for violation of these Terms or for any other reason. You may discontinue use of the Bot at any time. Upon termination or at your request, we will delete stored platform credentials associated with your account.

17. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of South Carolina, without regard to conflict of law principles.
